Our story began in the heart of Maryland, where a team of world-renowned professors and engineers shared a deep passion for animals. What started as an academic exploration in the field of lameness research evolved into a commitment to revolutionize hoof healthcare.
We recognize the need for advanced technology in the field, and that is how our mission was born. Our roots in academia allowed us to approach animal health from a unique engineering perspective. Dr. Uri Tasch
Dr. Tasch founded Mesheck with the goal to promote animal wellbeing worldwide. For over 25 years, he has researched locomotion abnormalities caused by neurological diseases and injuries. Uri earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and holds the honorable title of Professor Emeritus after over 25 years of teaching at the UMBC. Today, Uri works full-time on Mesheck and enjoys spending his free time with his grandchildren.

Dr. Saman Nezami
Dr. Nezami is a seasoned engineer specializing in structural modeling, multibody dynamics, and vibration analysis. At Mesheck, he has been instrumental in designing and optimizing mechanical systems, developing signal processing algorithms, and creating 3D technical drawings. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from UMBC. Outside of his professional life, Saman is passionate about nature and enjoys rock climbing.

Dr. Marc Zupan
Dr. Zupan, an accomplished engineering professor with over 20 years of research and teaching experience, holds Doctoral and Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. His distinguished career includes roles as an NSF International Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge and a Fulbright Scholar at the Universidade do Porto. Marc enjoys being a proud Pony Club Dad, supporting his daughter in equestrian competitions.

Journey
Mesheck’s journey began 30 years ago when our founder—Dr. Uri Tasch—driven by a passion to understand and prevent lameness across species, dove deep into academic locomotion research. What started in the laboratory quickly evolved into a mission: bring digital precision to everyday hoof care and gait analysis.
That mission gave rise to FITGAIT, multi‑dimensional ground reaction force sensing system—offering robust and reliable data collection directly in the field. As we refined our novel gait analysis system, including bovine trials across numerous commercial dairy farms and pioneering equine work at the University of Maine—we discovered the need for additional objective assessment tools. And so, our digital hoof tester was born.
Our hard work led to the first production run of the digital hoof tester, and thanks to invaluable feedback from veterinarians, farriers, hoof trimmers, caretakers and researchers, the next-generation HOOFUNIT is already in development—packed with enhanced features informed by real-world use.
Today, our technology stands at the intersection of rigorous science and compassionate care—translating motion into data that supports actionable insights and promotes animal welfare.
